- How to raise Daughters with emotional intelligence.Emotional intelligence, or EI, is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage emotions—both in ourselves and others. For daughters, developing EI is critical for healthy relationships, resilience, and self-confidence. Childhood experiences play a huge role. From a conservative psychologist’s perspective, daughters who grew up with inconsistent boundaries or lacked emotional guidance may struggle to name or control their feelings. A Naturopath would emphasize the physiological side—stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, often elevated in chaotic homes, can impede a child’s ability to self-regulate emotions. Teaching emotional intelligence starts with awareness: helping daughters identify feelings as they arise. Encourage daily reflection—journaling, conversation, or even drawing can allow them to process emotions safely. Setting a calm, predictable environment reinforces the neurological wiring needed for EI. Over time, these habits cultivate a stable, confident, emotionally intelligent adult.4
